What else do you do in the Philly music scene? I have been a volunteer for Clark Park Music and Art Fest, I used to run a charity to get musicians together and fundraise for Rock to the Future, I founded the Philadelphia DIY Collaborative to get other musicians in and out of Philly to find homes for their gigs, and I occasionally host network driven shows with themes around them (such as wine and cheese rooftop shows, coffee houses, etc) for songwriters / bands in the Philadelphia area. I am a fan of spreading myself around the Philadelphia area instead of sticking to one clique and or scene. I think there is a lot to learn about that.
Location of Photo(s): Pilam and W/N W/N Coffee
What do those location(s) mean to you?: Both of these locations remind me of the community vibes that Philadelphia is known for while also respecting people's diverse experiences. I consider PILAM to be a place that reminds me of my humble beginnings in college (Penn State) when learning how to perform as a musician
Favourite Place in Philly: The sunset view at Mann Music Center is just beautiful and always keeps me feeling proud to be from here.
Favourite Coffee Spot: La Colombe
Favourite Restaurant: Honeygrow
Favourite Pizza Spot: I'm lactose intolerant, but when I do feel like cheating I always dig Pizza Brain and / or Santucci's.
Favourite Philly Record Shop: Hideaway Music
Favourite Philly Venue: Union Transfer
Recording Space: Fresh Produce Studios is where I recorded all my records, but Headroom is my new fav studio right now even though I have not done work there ....yet.
Favourite Philly Band(s): There are so many, but here are my top 5 - Hop Along, Circa Survive, Alex G, The Roots, and Dr Dog.
Best show you’ve seen in Philly: Sounds of Animals Fighting at The Trocadero
What are you listening to now: J Cole's '4 Your Eyez Only'
If you could sum up in one sentence what Philly / Philly music scene means to you, what would it be? A city of endless diversity and discovery.
Life motto: Never Give Up
Random Fun Fact: In addition to music, I like to try out different foods from different cities and make videos about it on my Youtube channel.
Childhood Dream Job: As a child, I wanted to be a kung fu movie star, but kung fu movies are no longer a thing :(
Pets: None I am allergic to little animals.
Future plans: I want to one day be able to tour the entire country and make a documentary about it whether I have a band or not, and if I am lucky I would really love to travel the world. I would want to make a video diary about food, culture, and the people I met from sharing my songs and my story.
