The rules are simple...there's a hat, this hat is filled with many questions ranging from the personal to the off beat. We pass the hat, and artists gets a chance to answer the question they choose from said hat. Fun is had by all.
Boston duo Tall Heights stopped by Philadelphia's Boot and Saddle a few weeks back. Tall Heights have been building their buzz for years, but most recently found themselves on their first TV appearance, on Conan, and since have been creating a whirlwind of buzz off their most recent release, Neptune. They've been traveling the globe and filling spaces with their amazing, atmospheric harmonies. Maybe people cling to Tall Heights because they offer listeners a completely new wave of folk / electronic sound, or maybe it's because they're just so damn beautiful to listen to. I had a chance to do a Chat in the Hat with frontmen Tim Harrington and Paul Wright, along with drummer Paul Dumas before their Philly show, here's how it went:

TIM: What was the first record you ever bought?
There were records my brother bought, like Ace of Base. The one with “All That She Wants”. That was my brother’s first, but the first one I probably bought was Dispatch Silent Steeples. That was pretty late though, cause I never needed to buy things. I would always borrow from my brother or my parents.
PAUL W: What would your wild west outlaw gang name be?
Bubs McCoy
PAUL D: If you could invent one Olympic sport, what would it be?
It would probably combine a couple sports like mini golf meets hockey meets...
Tim: “contact mini golf?”
..and aggressive inline skating. It’s almost like street hockey, but mini golf style. You all go at once.
TIM: Outside of music, what are you known for by your friends?
**laughs**
Uh…there’s this alter ego named Hammertim. It’s Hammered Tim. He comes out and he’s a total wild card. He might start a fight, be might break some shit. He might be a blast. He might offer you the best night of your life and he might offer you the worst night of your life. I think I’m known for that.
Paul W: “I like Hammertim better than Tim”
PAUL W: What’s your favourite city you’ve toured to?
Cologne, Germany. Decent show, amazing hang. We were there on the first day of their Carnival. Everyone was in costume and in the streets. There were all these German marching bands and it was really cool.
PAUL D: What is the coolest venue you’ve ever played?
Tim: “Sofar Philly”
Paul D: In Chicago at Millennium Park. Pritzker Pavilion, right next to Cloud Gate with the bean. That was by far the coolest venue I’ve ever played.
Paul W: “Union Chapel in London was really cool as well”
